SoloS Secures 560MW BESS Projects In The Uk
SoloS Power has completed a Framework Agreement to acquire 560MW of battery energy storage projects alongside its partner Shomax Energy Corporation. This will continue SoloS' expansion of interconnected battery projects within the UK and will begin construction of this next phase once they hit shovel-ready status from December 2021.
The 560MW portfolio is made up of 10 projects and is expected to participate in ancillary service markets provided by the National Grid, wholesale energy market trading and Balance Mechanism Trading. As the UK aims to meet its energy transition goals of net-zero emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050, the projects will also provide local UK communities with employment opportunities and support economic recovery following Covid-19.
Jason Dobson, SoloS CEO, said: "This is an exciting next step for SoloS that will not only provide employment opportunities within the local project areas but upon completion will also deliver reliable environmentally friendly battery energy storage for the UK's National Grid."
